My Approach

Existential philosophy explores what it means to be human. My training as a psychotherapist is based on what that means to each individual. I offer all clients a safe space in which to speak about the unspeakable and address their network of relationships. Therapy is a process of exploration, of discovering how to regulate emotions, how to react in a more healthy way to other people's behaviour, how to build sufficient confidence in one's own instincts to be able to take a risk.

About Me

I work with individual adults and with couples (including same-gender couples.) I work from an Existential perspective, which means I take as my starting point the fact that each individual (although he/she may not know it yet) knows best how to tackle the problems life throws at them. It is my place to empathise and help each person understand that at every crossroads they have choices. You can't always change the circumstances in which you find yourself, but you can change how you feel and how you respond to the actions of others.
As a practitioner approved by BUPA, AXA PPP and AVIVA I work on a short-term basis (from 6-20 sessions as agreed with your insurer) in a Solution-Focused way.
I have a Masters Degree in Existential Psychotherapy and I have ACTO accreditation for online work. (I have training in therapy using Instant Messaging, Email and video counselling.) I also train doctoral students in Phenomenology.
I have spent 40 years working in the classical music business in the UK as a company manager, agent and publisher and specialise in counselling musicians and performers. I am on the register of the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine.
For GP/psychological services referrals I am on the BACP register
